What mixin is
mixin is an input method for macOS. It lets you type Chinese pinyin, English words, code and math in one go, without switching between a Chinese and an English input method. Type xiawu office hour qu wen yixia professor and you get 下午 office hour 去问一下 professor; code such as os.path.join and expressions such as e^itheta are kept exactly as typed. The demo on the home page runs the same engine in your browser.
Plans and prices
- Free, forever. The whole input engine: mixed pinyin, English, code and math; the built-in context model that picks homophones from the words around them; typo correction; word-by-word picking and segment editing; personal learning from the corrections you confirm, kept on your Mac. No time limit and no account.
- mixin Pro: US$3 per month, or US$24 per year (US$2 a month, a third less). Everything in the free tier, plus on-device model reranking: a small language model on your Mac re-ranks the sentence candidates. Coming later, and not part of what you pay for until released: learning sync across devices, dictionary and model updates, and the Windows version.
- 14-day free trial of Pro, no payment card needed.
- If a subscription lapses, mixin falls back to the free tier. It never blocks typing.
